Contract Manager –
This individual manages and provides leadership to the operations/maintenance functions covering vegetation management in order to support company functionality and employee safety under assigned contract(s). Contract manager oversees the vegetation management program agenda, policies, procedures, and contract administration. He will serve as a subject matter expert and spokesperson on vegetation management related issues with internal and external customers. He is responsible for the management of all contract-related activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Manages all aspects of Vegetation Management Department for assigned contract(s), including management of key employees such as field supervisors and general foremen
* Maintains trees and other vegetation for electric distribution and transmission right-of-way
* Manages the day-to-day activities including maintenance, safety, customer satisfaction, and adhering to industry standards of vegetation management
* Manages contract administration and assets by maintaining accurate records and ensuring timely invoicing through the Office
* Provides effective leadership between customers and within vegetation/asset management department
* Directly affects reliability through sound vegetation management practices; develops and communicates the overall direction, performance expectations, and strategic plans to upper management
* Develops and manages an annual budget for vegetation management department; assists with the overall budget for the organization when requested
* Acts as a subject matter expert in all aspects of Vegetation Management programs; monitors and evaluates regulatory changes for compliance and new business/market opportunity or restriction
* Fosters understanding of and support for the company’s Customer Satisfaction program, including education for individual property owners, representatives of various governmental agencies, and the public
* Actively participates in industry organizations and acts as leading expert in this field
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Uses expertise and knowledge to anticipate problems and set strategic goals and agendas
* Works effectively with others throughout the organization to accomplish organizational goals and to identify and resolve problems
* Responsible for overseeing expenditures for vegetation management programs and for positively contributing to system reliability
* Hires, trains, rewards, manages, develops, and/or terminates subordinates
* Establishes a course of action for self and/or others to accomplish a specific goal; plans proper assignments of personnel and appropriate allocation of resources
* Establishes procedures to monitor the results of delegations, assignments or projects
* Works closely with office to ensure accurate invoicing
COMMUNICATION RESPONSIBILITIES
* Ability to respond to complicated inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
* Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors
* Ability to interpret rules and regulations for corporation
* Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations
QUALIFICATIONS
* Knowledge of regulatory changes associated with industry
* Knowledge of ANSI Z133
* Knowledge, understanding, and commitment to express and implement the company’s vision and goals
* Effective project management skills
* Ability to manage difficult or emotional customer situations while maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor
* Ability to respond promptly to customer needs and solicit dialog with customers to improve or exceed customer expectations
* Ability to maintain positive and productive working relationships with various individuals and groups
* Ability to prioritize, schedule, organize, focus on, and complete work
* Action-oriented, detail-oriented, goal-oriented, and budget-oriented
* Ability to multi-task and effectively manage time in a dynamic environment
* International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Arborist Certification, Utility Specialist Certification, and/or Certified Pesticide Applicator certification(s) preferred
* Must possess current, legally valid driver’s license and meet the Company’s driving record requirements
* Must pass required background check
