Arborist Supervisor – UT El Paso
Essential Functions
Reviews and evaluates tree maintenance needs and takes appropriate action.
Prepares, maintains, updates and reviews tree inventory; prepares written and oral reports regarding tree planting and tree removal to Grounds Management Personnel and other University personnel.
Knowledge of local tree and plant species and arboricultural practices.
Knowledge of tree maintenance methods and equipment.
Ability to safely climb trees to perform proper pruning.
Knowledge of insects and diseases that infect trees and plants in the southern region and the actions necessary to correct problems.
Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems.
Complies with all State and University policies.
Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s objectives, policies and applicable laws.
Required Qualifications
Completion of two year certificate in arboriculture, horticulture or forestry. Three years of experience, related to the statement of duties and responsibilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications. Bachelor’s degree preferred. International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Arborist Certification or able to become certified within one year of employment.
