Matt Lanza is the manager of meteorology at CenterPoint Energy. He joined in November of 2024 and is helping to lead the build out of a state-of-the-art weather monitoring and forecasting program for CenterPoint. Over 20 years, Matt has worked primarily in the energy industry in California and Texas but also as a broadcast meteorologist in Upstate New York. He is also the managing editor of Space City Weather, a popular Houston area weather blog that provides a “hype-free” spin on the weather. Matt has earned his Certified Digital Meteorologist designation from the American Meteorological Society. Matt has a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology from Rutgers University. He tries to balance all this as a husband and father of two energetic young boys.
